For today’s assignment I had to ask AI to write a 250-word essay. I decided that I was going to do this with a subject that I am very competent with. I chose to use ChatGPT. So, I asked it to write about the birth of the Marine Corps (in 250 words, describe the birth of the United States Marine Corps) the exact verbiage I used. Since I have 20 years of active duty as a Marine this is a subject that I am very familiar with. Overall, the AI did a great job at getting the details correct so there was no correction on the details. I did, however, decide to change some of the wording and add some additional details. For the links I decided I was going to use government websites as well as news museums. Some of the details were not necessary but I felt that we should use the rank of Samuel Nicholas, so I added that to the writing that the AI did.
AI probably had a significant number of reputable resources to choose from and there were not a lot of disputes in the facts. The Marine Corps’ history is very well documented and unless it was rewritten very easy to find. After reading the assignment I was expecting mistakes but surprisingly I did not find any.
