Nomadic Travels but Where I Always End Up

My travels have taken me from coast to coast several times. The beauty of this nation is unparalleled when you really get into it. Some of my favorite places have been off the beaten path. Though I have traveled to many places my heart always brings me to my hometown. The beauty of this city is unique and mostly because I have seen it grow. Some of this growth is not appealing to me but sometimes I still see the beauty of the city. This is a picture of the sunset over Lake Mitchell Michigan that I took with my daughter in the background. Lake Mitchell is the best lake in the city to get these pictures of the sunset because it is situated on the opposite side of where the state park is located.

Now even with its beauty the city has gone downhill in many ways. We used to have the Northwest Michigan Fair at the local fairgrounds. This was always the highlight of my summer since it was always packed with rides, food, games, and entertainment. This is a simulated image from ChatGPT that shows what the fair looked like when I was younger. The memories I have from these events are amazing. I remember I used to save all my allowance for the summer just to make sure I could go to the fair every day. Back then the prices were between $7-$10 a day for unlimited rides. Unfortunately, these days do not last as the fair today is nothing compared to what it used to be.

With all the small town feels of this city you still have the shopping that you need to get through. To include a full downtown shopping district that has everything from a local pharmacy to several boutiques. The shopping district here is full of unique stores with a small-town story. Here is a photo from the city of Cadillac’s Facebook Page that I believe shows the beauty of a small city downtown area in the early morning. Most of the city makes money in the summertime as the town has two lakes that are large. This allows boaters, fishers, and other water enthusiasts to come and enjoy a sunny day in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. The temperature is perfect for enjoying the shallower lakes that do warm up since it is still Michigan.
